Bus Stop : Davenport Place

Just to let you know that the bus stop at the Davenport has been moved a short distance towards Alpraham so that the bus drivers can see the traffic when stopping and moving away from the bus stop. This is by Manor Fields, opposite North View and is a temporary arrangement until the building works have been completed.

Dear Calveley Community,

I would like to notify all local residents that I have set up a Facebook page dedicated to all that served at RAF Calveley during the Second World War and would love to have local input on the page wherever possible.

I have been visiting the airfield since I was a child and in many ways have been inspired by my visits to it. I have always felt that the airfield needed some form of memorial due to the number of lives lost and I believe that this is the fastest and most community focused way to go about creating a legacy for the station. My Grandparents were originally from Calveley, just in case anyone is wondering what the link is between myself and the area. I will not be encouraging visitors to the station as I am aware this is an inconvenience for the farming community and have posted a section on visiting the site in relation to this.

The page can be found on Facebook by typing 'RAF Calveley' into the search box or by going direct to (you do not need a login):

Please tell anyone you can and help me make this the memorial that the airfield deserves - stories and pictures particularly welcome and can be sent to daniel_cornes@yahoo.co.uk.

I am currently working on a Roll of Honour for all who lost their lives flying from the airfield, however, this will mean several trips to Kew in London so please bear with me.

Daniel Cornes
